The greatest value of this region emerges from the fact that it is a coastal and insular region, and that nature in this part of the Adriatic was especially generous. The climatic characteristics are very favorable. The typical Mediterranean climate is dominated by mild winters and hot summers with minimal precipitation.

The largest city in the region boasts with the title of 2016 European Destination. Zadar is not only a tourist destination but one of the main arteries of the Dalmatian coast.

Nin

The small town of Nin is one of the oldest on the eastern Adriatic coast. Founded in the 9th century B.C., Nin was an important maritime and commercial center, and ancient Roman remains of the largest temple in this area date from the 1st century.


Pag

The island of Pag is one of the most developed Croatian islands with a rich cultural heritage. It is best known for its tradition of making lace and costumes, and thus Pag lace is also on the UNESCO List of Protected Intangible Assets.

The Zadar archipelago

The wealth of the Zadar region is also a group of over a hundred islands and islets. Larger islands such as Dugi otok, Ugljan or Pašman are well connected by boat to the city of Zadar, while the smaller and uninhabited islands have hidden bays and beaches that can only be visited by private vessels.
